Tata Motors sales downed by 6 percent in July

Tata Motors, country's largest vehicle maker, which has launched the 4x2 version of its popular MUV Tata Aria on August 2nd 2011 in the Indian auto market, reported a down fall of 6 per cent with total sales of 63,761 units in the month of July this year against same period of previous year.

The company reported a down fall of 9 per cent in the domestic auto market with sales of 57,990 commercial and passenger vehicles in the month of July this year as compared to over 63,559 units in the same month of last year.

In this financial year the company reported a growth of 4 per cent with total sales of 256,799 units, over 247,381 units sold in the like period of last year.

In commercial vehicle segment, Tata Motors reported a growth of 14 per cent with sales of 40,798 units as against 35,694 units sold in July, 2010. While the LCV (light commercial vehicle) segment of Tata cars reported a growth of 22 per cent with total sales of 24,962 units over July year 2010.

Tata Motors' passenger-vehicles segment sales is declined by 39 per cent at 18,294 units (17,192 Tata, 1,102 Fiat) as compared to 30,166 vehicles (27,865 Tata, 2,301 Fiat) in July previous year. In the month of July Tata passenger vehicles reported a downfall of 38 per cent with sales of 17,192 against last year July. The sale of world's cheapest car Tata Nano were down by 64 per cent at 3,260 units in July 2011.

The company is doing well in export and reported a growth of 36 per cent at 5,771 vehicles in July, compared to 4,241 units against the month of July previous year. The cumulative sales from exports for the fiscal at 20,657 units were higher by 25 per cent over 16,484 vehicles in the month of July, 2010.

To push the sales mark of the company, Tata is planing to launch some of new car models in the market soon. The company launched the affordable 4x2 version of its premium crossover Tata Aria on 2nd August this year. This version of the SUV is cheaper than current running 4x4 version that will give tough competition to Mahindra Scorpio and Chevrolet Tavera.

One the other hand, some of new car models have also been launched in the Indian auto market such as New Audi A6, New Volkswagen Jetta, Nissan Sunny, New Maruti Swift, BMW X3, New Honda Jazz, Mahindra XUV 500, Renault Koleos, Toyota Etios diesel, Honda Brio etc.
