Ford India to launch 8 new cars

Ford India, 100 per cent subsidiary of the US based Ford Motors and country's fastest growing auto company has made an announcement to launch 8 new cars in India by 2015. The launch of all these cars has been started with the launch of Ford Fiesta. To achieve this 8 new cars launch target in Indian domestic market the company is expending the production capacity of its manufacturing plant. With the company will also launch its second manufacturing plant.

As per company sources, Ford India has already invested 500 million dollar to expand production capacity to two lakh units annually at its Chennai facility. The company also has an powerplant manufacturing plant in Chennai with a production capacity of 2.5 lakh units. Meanwhile, Ford's second facility will be located in Sanand, Gujarat, for it the company is going to invest a big capital.

To set up 2nd manufacturing plant, the company is investing Rs. 5,000 crore and purchasing 400 acres land in Sanand near Tata Nano manufacturing plant. This second facility of Ford India will be only 40 kms far from Ahemdabad, capital of the Gujarat state. The company will also purchase 100 acres land for the vendor park. With the company to gear the production of its first facility located in Chennai.

Currently, Ford India includes, one hatchback Ford Figo, sedans Ford Fiesta Classic, Ford Fiesta and one luxury SUV Ford Endeavour in its stable which are reporting good response to the Indian customers while upcoming new cars models by Ford are expected a threat in the Indian domestic auto market. With launch all these 8 new cars in India Ford Motors seeks to take on Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors, Toyota Kirloskar Motors, Honda Siel cars India and General Motors which are prominent car makers in the country.

To push up business, Toyota and GM have recently launched their hatchbacks like Toyota Etios Liva and Chevrolet Beat diesel which are major competitor of Ford Figo while Maruti and Honda have also launched the Figo competitors like new Maruti Swift and Honda Brio respectively. It is expected that now Ford India may launch its new car in India before the end of this year, but the company has not disclosed yet.
