Mercedes Benz C and E Class to have small engine

Mercedes Benz C Class and Mercedes Benz E Class, most popular luxury cars in India by the German auto major Mercedes now will be powered by a 2000cc engine. The company has planed to maker cheaper and fuel efficient these popular cars models is going to add 2.0L diesel engines to take over BMW and Audi's 2.0L diesel engines cars. The all new 2.0L diesel engine loaded Mercedes Benz C Class and Mercedes Benz E Class would be available in competitor price range in the Indian auto market.


Currently, Mercedes Benz C Class is powered by a 2.5L diesel engines available price range of between Rs. 25.75 lakh to Rs. 32.81 lakh while Mercedes Benz E Class that also has 2.5L engine has start price tag of Rs. 40.61 lakh for base version and top-end model goes for Rs. 50.44 lakh.

Mercedes Benz is number third largest luxury car maker in the Indian auto market it has targeted to take of BMW and Audi which are number one and second largest luxury car maker respectively. To beat these both giants, the company has planed to launch light and fuel efficient engine equipped luxury cars in India at competitor price tag. Because German rivals BMW and Audi already selling comparable models with 2,000 cc diesel engines.

Mercedes Benz has finally planted to take on BMW and Audi new upcoming few years and launching innovative luxury cars in India. The company is ready to throw its small luxury cars like Mercedes Benz A Class and Mercedes Benz B Class with a competitor price tag which are an answer to BMW 1 Series and Audi A1. Now the company is planing to introduce its smallest sports utility vehicles (SUV) GLK-Class within next 18 months against BMW X3 and Audi Q3. So far, the company do not have plan to launch a competitor of BMW X1 smaller SUV.

For a long time Mercedes Benz reporting good growth in sales and it aiming 30-50 per cent growth in Indian luxury car market this year. Previous year the company sold 5,819 cars with a growth of 80 per cent. Between moths of January and June this year it sols sold 2,402 units with growth of 80 per cent against total sales of 1,342 units in same period of previous year.

In Indian auto market not only luxury car makers are in competition but premium and entry level car makers are also facing with competition to each other. To attract customers these companies have launched innovative fuel efficient cars in India with competitor price tag. To lead the Indian entry level sedan car market Ford India has recently launched its global Ford Fiesta against Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Maruti SX4 and Honda City. Meanwhile, small car makers have also thrown their impressive cars to the market like Toyota has launched Toyota Etios Liva. GM has launched the diesel version of Chevrolet Beat, Maruti launches the 2011 version of Maruti Swift, Honda launched its fuel economical small car Honda Brio in competitive price range.
